Step 1: Streamline Cataloguing and Acquisitions 

  • SabiCat and WorldCat: Simplify cataloguing by registering your collection in the world’s largest library database. 

 

Step 2: Expand Your Collection with Resource-Sharing 

  • ReQuest (National Interlending) – A national interlending service available to Southern African libraries that facilitates access to the resources held by libraries, by enabling borrowing and lending between institutions. ReQuest (National Interlending) is powered by WorldShare® Interlibrary Loan. Note: Libraries subscribing to ReQuest (National Interlending) should have an active membership with the Southern African Interlending Scheme (SAIS) administered by the National Library of South Africa. 
  • Tipasa – Manage a high volume of interlibrary loan requests with Tipasa, automate routine borrowing and lending functions, integrate with third-party systems, and provide an enhanced patron experience. You can meet users’ needs without requiring heavy IT support, server management, or extensive configuration and training. Note: A ReQuest (National Interlending) subscription is still required. 
  • International Interlending – In addition to ReQuest (National Interlending)  and  Tipasa, libraries can subscribe to OCLC’s International Interlibrary Loan service. No single library can hold everything its users need, but by joining this service, libraries gain access to thousands of collections via WorldCat®. The cloud-based WorldShare® Interlibrary Loan platform automates borrowing and lending through the world’s largest resource-sharing network, saving time and ensuring quick delivery. Note: A ReQuest (National Interlending) subscription is still required.
