This website, including all its features and content (this “Website”) is a service made available by Sabinet (“The provider”)
and all content, information and services provided on or through this Website may be used solely under the following terms and conditions.

Definitions and interpretation:

“Content” including but not limited to text, submissions, images, audio, and/or video, PDFs and output in whole or in part;

“Input” refers to the query provided by the user to the Sabinet Legal Research Assistant including all information included within any such query;

“Output” the content generated by the Sabinet Legal Research Assistant and which is based on the users input and the Sabinet content.

“Sabinet Legal Research Assistant” refers to computer application

“Sabinet content” refers to the primary source content including those hosted on Sabinet Discover and Journals which the Sabinet Legal Research Assistant access to generate the Output.

“Submissions” – including but not limited to notes, images, creative materials, ideas, suggestions concepts, and communication including any data, questions, comments, and other information submitted to the Website via transmission by electronic mail or otherwise;

“The Provider” SABINET ONLINE (PTY) LTD (registration number 1996/017856/07). The Company provides online Information Content as further described in the definition of Content above.

“User” means any person who enters, uses, or accesses the Website, notwithstanding the fact that such a person only visited the home page of the Website;

“The Website” means the Sabinet website located at

In this agreement unless it appears to the contrary, the singular shall include the plural and vice versa,
any reference to any gender shall also include the opposite gender and any reference to a natural person,
shall include legal person and vice versa.

Website license:

As a user of this Website, you are granted a nonexclusive, nontransferable, revocable, limited license to access and use the Website,
and Content in accordance with these Terms of use. Sabinet may terminate this license at any time for any reason.

If there is any provision in these Terms and Conditions that you do not understand,
it is your responsibility to ask Sabinet to explain it to you before you accept the Terms and Conditions or continue using the Website.

Sabinet permits the use of this Website subject to the Terms and Conditions.
By using this Website in any way, you shall be deemed to have accepted all the Terms and Conditions unconditionally.
You must not use this Website if you do not agree to the Terms and Conditions.

Trade Mark, copyright and restrictions on use:

The Content on this Website is for your personal use only and not for commercial exploitation.

The Website consists of content that is derived entirely or in part from content sourced by and provided to Sabinet,
Newspaper Publisher, and other sources. The said content is protected under applicable South African Copyright and
Trade Mark Laws, International Trade Marks and Copyright Laws and conventions.

The user is prohibited from creating works that are based on the content found on this site.
The prohibition applies regardless of whether the content is sold, negotiated, or given away and/or further alienated in any manner whatsoever.

The user may not, with the inclusion of but not the limitation of, reproduce, duplicate, publish, modify, copy, download,
upload in any manner, post, broadcast or transmit, reverse engineer, or disenable, display, or distribute or in any way exploit any of the content.
The user may download or print one copy of the content on any single computer for their personal, non-commercial use,
provided that all proprietary notices and restrictions on the content are kept intact unless prior written consent was obtained from Sabinet.

Users may not decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble, rent, lease, loan, sell, sublicense or create derivative works from,
or use this Website or Content to train, fine-tune, or otherwise develop large language models or other machine learning systems.

Users are required to register and receive confirmatory e-mail messages to gain access to certain content or services on the Website.

Website users may not use any network monitoring or discovery software to determine the site architecture or extract information.

Users may not use any robot, spider, web crawlers, other automatic software or device, or manual process to monitor, search or copy Sabinet’s Website or the Content without Sabinet’s prior written permission.

Users may not use this Website to transmit any false, misleading, fraudulent, or illegal communications.

Users may quote small and reasonable amounts of content available from the Website only if such quote is placed in inverted commas and appropriately referenced.

Users may not copy, modify, reproduce, republish, distribute, display, or transmit for commercial, non-profit, or public purposes all or any portion of this Website, except to the extent permitted above.

No person may frame the Website, in any manner whatsoever, without the prior written consent of Sabinet.

Hyperlinks to the website from any other source shall be directed at the home page of the Website.
Sabinet shall not be liable, in any manner whatsoever, for any damage, loss or liability that resulted from the use of content from the Website
if such content was accessed through a hyperlink not directed at the home page of the Website.
Persons who wish to link to content beyond the home page of the Website shall do so at their own risk and indemnify the provider against any loss,
liability or damage that may result from the use of Content from the Website. The provider’s non-liability for deep linking is because deep links bypass these terms of use.

AI disclaimer & Output reliability (only applicable on Legal Research Assistant generated content)

Output is AI generated and may be incorrect or incomplete. Output should not be used as advice and users assume personal responsibility when using the content.

The user acknowledges and agrees that the Provider uses artificial intelligence (AI) ethnologies,’ including but not limited to large language models,
to process, analyses and generate content. AI technologies are inherently probablistic and based on the data on which they are trained.
While the Provider endeavours to procure the use of AI technologies that are in line with good industry practice and to update them periodically,
the user understands that the AI-generated content and decisions may be unpredictable and carry the risk of error, inaccuracy, or inappropriateness.

The AI Disclaimer is integral to this agreement and shall prevail over any conflicting terms, except to the extent such terms restrict the Provider’s liability.

Users should not Input any personal information or special categories of personal information into any free-text input fields for AI features.
The AI features are not designed to process personal information in user prompts;

Intellectual property rights and domain name use:

All intellectual property on the Website, including but not limited to content, trademarks, domain names, patents, design elements, software, databases, text,
graphics, icons, and hyperlinks are the property of or licensed to Sabinet and as such, are protected from infringement by domestic and international legislation
and treaties. Subject to the rights licensed to the User in clause 2, all other rights to intellectual property on the Website are expressly reserved.

SABINET ONLINE (PTY) LTD is a registered trademark and Users agree not to use the SABINET ONLINE (PTY) LTD trademark or trademark as an element of a domain name
or subdomain name, notwithstanding the fact that such domain name use or registration may be allowed in terms of trademark and/or constitutional law.
Upon request to do so, a User shall immediately cease to use such domain name and transfer it to Sabinet at the cost of the User.

Software and equipment:

It is the responsibility of the User to acquire and maintain, at his/her own expense, the computer hardware, software, lines, and account to access the Website.

Changes and amendments:

Sabinet expressly reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to do any of the following, at any time without prior notice:

  • change these terms and conditions;
  • change the content and/or services available from the Website;
  • discontinue any aspect of the Website or service(s) available from the Website; and/or
  • change the software and hardware required to access and use the Website.

Purchase of Documents and Articles via E-Commerce:

We are committed to providing secure online payment facilities. All payment information is encrypted using appropriate encryption technology.

Payment can be made via PayPal.

You will need to comply with the terms and conditions of PayPal to register an account directly with PayPal through which you will be able to make online purchases.

Sabinet does not receive, process, or store credit card numbers.

Once you have selected your articles and proceeded to checkout you will be redirected to a secure PayPal website.

Subject to availability and receipt of payment, requests will be processed within two (2) business days after the Service Level Agreement has been signed and
delivery is confirmed by way of an initial welcome letter including a username and password.

Payment may be made via Visa, MasterCard, Diners or American Express Cards or bank transfer into the Sabinet bank account, the details of which will be provided on request.

Customer details will be stored by Sabinet separately from card details which are entered by the client on DPO PayGate’s secure site.

Card transactions will be acquired for Sabinet via PayGate (Pty) Ltd which is the approved payment gateway for all South African Acquiring Banks.
DPO PayGate uses the strictest form of encryption, namely Secure Socket Layer 3 (SSL3) and no Card details are stored on the website.
Users may go to www.paygate.co.za to view their security certificate and security policy.

The merchant outlet country at the time of presenting payment options to the cardholder is South Africa. The transaction currency is South African Rand (ZAR).

Sabinet takes responsibility for all aspects relating to the transaction including the sale of goods and services sold on this website, customer service and support, dispute resolution, and delivery of goods.

Prepaid Account

A Prepaid Account consists of tokens which can be used to download several products documents from Sabinet Discover.
Each token purchase gives you perpetual access to the document.
